Role Description

The Senior Accountant will oversee one (or more) of the entity books, undertake most aspects of financial management, including but not limited to management accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, assist in budget and forecast preparation, as well as ensuring that internal controls and policies are adhered to. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, you will play an integral part to manage the close activities for APAC entities ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and collaborate with key business partners to ensure financial integrity. Our aim is to provide value-added services and solutions that are flexible and tailored to the circumstances and needs of our clients.  

Principle Accountabilities:

Financial Reporting:
  • Monitor the financial performance and maintain full set accounts for the Company and its subsidiaries and related companies.
  • Deliver monthly result in line with month end timetable.
  • Preparation of monthly reports, bank reconciliation and other analysis reports (e.g. balance sheet, margin report, etc.)
  • Preparation of accruals and journal entries.
  • Review reconciliation reports for payroll, billing, accounts payable, rechargeable expenses, tax, intercompany and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform monthly closing of cashbook, sales and purchase ledgers including preparation of the financial reporting package (e.g. Aged Debtors/Creditors Reports).
  • Perform analysis of sales, gross profit and overhead variances. Reconcile discrepancies arising between the systems and finance records, proactively resolve and seek a solution to identify and minimise the differences.
  • Ensure financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with financial reporting standards and taxation laws.
Statutory Compliance:
  • Support the Local Finance Manager on all tax compliance submissions (GST, Withholding Tax, etc.) by compiling and preparing the necessary working papers.
  • Ensure compliance of group’s financial and operating policies, including liaising with external auditors, country offices, tax agents and outsourced service providers for statutory compliance and reporting.
  • Prepare the annual statutory accounts and other statutory reporting.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, outsource service providers on statutory filings such as local audit, income and corporate tax filing, etc.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Payroll & Billing Teams to ensure accurate and prompt recording of the transactions in the accounting books.
  • Drive improvements to streamline and automate processes across countries and operations in new countries as the company scales.
  • Proactive in ensuring completion and successful implementation of ad hoc projects, making recommendations as necessary to support business operations and expansion.
  • Able to train, provide guidance and share knowledge with Assistant Accountants and  Accountants I, II.
  • Keep up to date with process changes impacts and support preparation and maintenance of SOPs and reference materials.
  • Accountable for individual performance on productivity, agreed KPIs and internal team goals.
  • Assist with any other ad-hoc duties assigned from time to time by line manager.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Degree in Accountancy/Finance.
  • Recognized qualified Accounting qualification.
  • Has 5 to 8 years of work experience in the Finance & Accounting function in a shared services environment.
  • Knowledge of Accounting and Taxation for multiple countries in Asia Pacific is an advantage.
  • Strong technical competency and understanding of relevant IFRS/SFRS.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple requests effectively within competing deadlines.
  • Intermediate or Advance user of Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience working in a professional services or Big 4 accounting firm would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, effective time and self-management and strong problem-solving skills.
